Well, folks, it has been about three months since the Duggar boy married and yep, his wife is praygnuuunt. I don't think too many are surprised at this--I certainly am not. All I can say is, thank the Goddess that I am not that poor girl. This is just the beginning of baybee after baybee after baybee...
What I want to see is how much government money these leeches are going to accept. You know that somewhere, somehow, these characters are going to be slurping at the public trough. After all, it's their Gawd-given right to have one baybee after another, and by gum, the gubmint will just have to help pay for all those kids...
Just more hypocrisy from people who have nothing good to say about government aid programmes--until it comes time to line up and slurp.

The Fury of the Religious Right
As anyone who follows the news knows, the Vermont Legislature overrode the governor's veto of a bill legalising same-sex marriage, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled that prohibiting same-sex marriage is unconstitutional, and New York's governor introduced a bill permitting marriage equality in that state--it looks like the Legislature may have the numbers to pass the bill.
The Religious Wrong, of course, isn't taking this lying down. No siree, they are already on the attack and have been since last week. First it was an television ad "The Coming Storm", which is essentially a pack of lies as to how marriage equality will negatively affect Christians...and also gives them the chance to play the victim card. Noiw there is an ad posted on YouTube picturing poor little Christian kids being forced to wear duct tape over their mouths and the evil teacher throwing the Bible in the trash. Needless to say, the little Christian kids revolt, pull the tape from their mouths and rescue the Bible. All this fuss because of the Day of Silence, which is basically a day of not speaking to protest how LGBT people have been--and often still are--silenced. No one is forcing anyone into participating, least of all school-age children.
I am so sick and tired of the lies of the Religious Wrong. They first try spreading lies about LGBTQ people and when that fails, they play the victim card. They claim persecution when, in essence, they have had control of the discourse on this subject for hundreds of years. Until recently, it has been a monologue as the punishments for speaking up and being out were severe. Now, gay people are being given a chance to speak and are beginning to be given the rights they should have had all along, and the fundies are crying. Cry me a river! LGBTQ people disturb the fundies' comfort zone--it makes them have to acknowledge that there are other realities out there-at least it should. But when denial and lying don't work, they resort to crying "Persecution."
Any of you fundies out there ever heard of "Thou shalt not bear false witness"? Hope you can justify yourself on Judgement Day, for "inasmuch as ye have done it to the least of these, ye have done it unto Me."

It has been some time since I posted on this blog, but this really got me when I found this on the Queers United Blog. Since when is the idea of someone being denied health care based on some factor which might offend a physician even considered let alone added to HHS regulations. Apparently, the Bushies felt the overwhelming need to settle a score or two before being sent packing in January.
The fact that such a despicable regulation was added to HHS regulations shows the depths of hatred of LGBTQ people by many in this country and enshrined in law by heinous propositions such as Prop H8. I have every confidence that the Obama administration will fully rescind this fundie piece of filth, but the fact that it was rushed through in the final days speaks volumes to LGBT people about a fair percentage of their fellow Americans. To me, and I am sure other LGBTQ people is that according to much of the right wing, we don't have the right to life, let alone "liberty and the persuit of happiness." Forget marriage equality, fellow LGBTQers, they don't want us to even have health care equality or the right to life!
We may have come a fair way, but now is not the time for complacency. We still have a hell of a long way to go.

So Tired Of All the Hate
I am so tired of all the hate when it comes to same-sex marriage. Most of it is coming from the various right-wing Christian communities. They tell us that we ought to be killed, that we are unnatural, that loving someone of the same sex is tanamount to incest, paedophilia, or bestiality.
My husband and I went to Canada to get married so we wouldn't have to put up with all the backwards crap spewed by the Religious Wrong in this country. It was refreshing to go to the Marriage License Bureau just like any other couple wishing to get a marriage license. None of this carrying on, "OMG! They're freaks! Two men want to get married!", no hassle, no people heckling us--just a beautiful wedding by the Detroit River with our loved ones in attendance.
Over here in the States, my husband and I do not show affection in public for fear that we could be beaten or worse. This means that any anniversaries or special days in our lives must either be at home, or if we do go out, we hold hands under the table, or steal a quick kiss when no one is looking. How would straight people like having to live like that?!
Now to add insult to the injury of hateful referendums passed in California, Arizona, and Florida, Obama has invited Rick Warren, a hateful, homophobic Talibangelist, to give the Invocation at the Inauguration. Why? Couldn't he find a decent clergyman to do the honours? How about the Rev. Jesse Jackson--or is he too radical? Nope, our "change" President-Elect picks a BIGOT to bless his inauguration. When gay people say anything about it, we are told to "just get over it". How DARE we get up in the President-Elect's face when he picks someone who compares us to paedophiles and/or bestialists? Well, we aren't going to "just get over it". The choice of Rick Warren to give the Invocation is a slap in the face of every LGBT American who voted for Barack Obama.

Bigotry Triumphs In California--For Now
Well, barring a complete count of the votes on Prop Hate (I understand the count is as of yet incomplete), ignorance and bigotry have triumphed in California. Those who feared that our marriages would somehow diminish theirs, along with those who just flat-out hate lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered Americans voted down a right that heterosexuals take for granted.
But, LGBT people are not taking this lying down. We are fighting back--protesting, boycotts, and action through the courts. The homophobes are now whining that they are being picked on. Oh, I guess I misunderstood. THEY are allowed to run roughshod over us, and the only thing WE are supposed to do is shut up, bow our heads and let them do it.
This is not an easy battle, but we will win it. Sooner or later, we WILL have marriage equality.
Actually this defeat may have been a good thing. It has awakened gay people to the fact that the only rights we will get are the ones we fight for.

Tuesday Is Critical!!
Tuesday, the American people will have a chance to start a new era of honesty and decency. They have a chance to elect a man who will be a credit to America, unlike Palin, McCain, or the on-his-way-out Bush. If the Republicans are not voted out, this country will travel further along a path that I believe decent Americans do not wish to.
Voters in California are being given a chance to say "no" to bigotry and hate--by defeating Prop 8. The Religious Right is all up in arms about the right of LGBT people to legally marry.Seriously, I don't get it. Canada has had same sex marriage for several years now and Canada, to the best of my knowledge, is still there. California is not going to slide into the ocean, nor will there be divine retribution if LGBT people are given the basic human right to marry and have families of their own. I urge all Californians to vote against Prop 8, thus ensuring a resounding defeat for the forces of hate and prejudice.

The Duggars
Is anyone as sickened by the Duggars as I am? These people are a disgrace! The son is ready to marry and the mother is having her 18th brat! At one time, people such as these were seen as trashing, unable to control themselves and their famblee size--certaintly not anyone to glorify or emulate. Now, t hese masters of fail have their own website, complete with a webmaster named Joe Bob. Break out those banjos, Bubba!
I looked at the eldest's intended. She looks like another one of these spaced-out fundies who will passively pump out one baybee after another. I'm sure she'll be dutiful and fruitful. Shades of "The Handmaid's Tale"--this is the kind of America these people want to impose on us: heterosexist, baybee-popping little fundie couples. After all, we all know that birthin' baybees is all women are good for.
Wake up, America, more of this crap is what is ahead if you elect McCain and Palin.
